Howdy!
I hope that everyone's new year is off to a great start!
After ending the year with a bang, due to Amazon Kindle's inclusion of "Plague of Coins" in their "100 books for under $3.99" promotion for December, I wasn't sure what would happen when the calendar clicked over to January. But, thanks to the incredible response to the Epic Kindle Giveaway event, January is turning out to be an even better month in the book biz than December.
It's an awesome way to start the year!
I am extremely blessed to have the wonderful readership I presently have. Add that blessing to the many new friends I have recently been introduced to on Facebook—along with the wonderful friends and supporters of my work that I've met during the past year—I can honestly say that 'my cup runneth over'. This certainly includes nearly everyone who will read this update. I am forever grateful to all of you for supporting my work, and my commitment to you is to strive to become an even better writer as we move forward into 2012.
Some of you may be aware that I spent much of December cleaning up two of my favorite novels from the past, "Cades Cove" and "The Raven Mocker". The stories benefited mightily from the extensive grammatical correction work, and I had a really good feeling about both books as we moved into 2012. Both novels were headliners for me in our Epic event, and I have been greatly pleased by the response I've received for them—especially "Cades Cove". At the time of this writing, "Cades Cove" managed to surge all the way up to #277 in Kindle, and is presently still in the top 1000 books. In effect, it has replaced "Plague of Coins" as my most popular novel…at least for the early part of the year.
But, most folks want to know what books will be coming out this year, and when. Especially, after my recent announcement of a reduced release schedule for 2012, to ensure that what does get released is of the highest quality. (In other words, to get a story as near perfect from the get-go, without having to go back and fix things on the fly later on).
In February, I will begin writing "Reign of Coins", the long awaited Judas Chronicles sequel for "Plague of Coins." I am presently wrapping up the research and outline stage for the book, and am pleased with the direction things will take in the second novel. It will be quite a bit different than the first book, with much more emphasis on William Barrow's search for silver coin #23. The cover for the new book has been uploaded on my website, and will soon be added to my photo collection on Facebook as well. At this point, the release for "Reign of Coins" will be in early May.
Immediately following "Reign of Coins", I will begin work on the even longer awaited sequel to "Deadly Night", entitled "The Ungrateful Dead". This book will also be quite different from the first one—although the cast will largely be the same (anyone who has read the first book will certainly understand what I mean by that). The driving theme for it will be an ongoing conflict between Civil War 'reenactors' and Jimmy and Fiona's team of ghost hunters. In real life, these two types of groups sometimes get on each other's nerves. In this story, we'll be taking that irritation to a whole new level. With another crafty, crazy killer on the loose, this next book should be a lot of fun. It should be ready by the end of August this year.
While working on that project, J.R. Rain and I will begin work on a promising action/adventure novel, entitled "Temple of the jaguar". Fans of J.R.'s work should get a big kick out of this story and the main character, Nick Caine, a shady archaeologist in search of treasure from a mythical city of gold. I am extremely pumped to dive into that one. We hope to have it ready by fall.
That leaves time for one more definite book before Christmas season. After waiting nearly eight years, the third installment of The Talisman Chronicles will be written this year. Entitled, "Hurakan's Chalice", it will be a first person chronicle by Jack Kenney. Continuing the ongoing misadventure with his brother, Jeremy, this time they will face off with a bloodthirsty cousin of Genovene's. The story will take place entirely in Mexico and South America, and should be another wild ride in this series. I'm hoping to have it ready by December 15th.
So, that's the plan for this year. If anything changes, I will announce it here.
May this year bring peace, love, and the highest prosperity to all of you!
